As a thank you, all of our beta testers received free konpeito! This item is available from the Bakery and can be used to level up and evolve your monsters more quickly. Fukumame, also available from the bakery, can be used to reset a monsters clicks so that you don't have to wait 24 hours before clicking them again. There's also a new Street vendor who set up shop and is selling gourmet sushi rolls which can be used to change your monsters stage, letting you grow them up quicker or revert them to an egg state.
As of this week, we have officially upgraded our hosting to support HTTPS, and migrated our servers with more storage & functions so that we can really get this ball rolling. Although we are still working on adding art like shopkeepers and items to the site, shops & inventory recently received a rehaul so if you haven't already, you should come check them out!
You may have probably guessed by this post already, but we also added our forums! Hooray! Our forums currently run on phpBB so you will have to treat them as two separate entities with two separate accounts. It is unclear if in the future it will be possible to merge the databases, but for the time being this is the only option. We ask that users keep the same usernames on both the site & the forum for sake of moderation.
We have resolved the following bugs:
- Appearance and leveling items should be functioning correctly now, so you can safely alter the appearance of your monsters without their stage getting stuck or resetting.
- Adoptable management & the traveling companion widget on the sidebar are also functioning. We recommend adopting a monster and setting it as your travel partner under Account Settings.
- Creating artwork (handled by the primary artist, Faye) and implementing sitely activities (with a lot of coding & script help from Clay) is a bulk of the work happening behind the scenes right now. We're working on setting up our map, shops, and some basic activities for our users to do.
- Our current map is only a dummy version as artwork is being heavily rehauled. The final version is expected to have at least 7 unique zones, and various sub-locations depending on the activities available there.
- 12 unique monsters are planned- with 4 evolutions each, in 10 different unique colours- and 11 companions (with unique "evolving" items) are planned. We are looking into a way to implement monster encounters, as opposed to simply adopting them- this will allow the collecting of monsters to become it's own type of gameplay.
- At least 8 shops- each with unique shopfront & shopkeeper- and an estimate of over 100+ items combined to begin with are currently in the works with the hopes of stimulating gameplay and a small economy.
- 13 unique activities planned, with at least 8 of them being fairly in-depth systems. Some are relying on other user's submitted open-source code, some are built from the ground up. No promises can be made yet about what will be possible with MySidia's coding, but we would like to introduce Leveling to systems like Fishing, Mining, Farming, and Battling.
- Sitely events- of which we currently have 6 planned- each with their own unique NPCs, goals, and prizes which can only be obtained during the seasons they are held. Other NPCs for common year-round quests are also planned.
- We are looking at breeding as an option since MySidia is built for it, however if we decide to introduce this mechanic it would open a whole new can of worms, therefore we are not currently taking it into heavy consideration.
We're still doing lots of work related to set-up before we can finally open our doors to user registration. If you would like to submit a support request, report a bug, or have other questions/feedback regarding CucumberRoll, you can email support@cucumberroll.space or submit a support ticket to get in contact with us.
Please keep in mind responses are not always guaranteed (again, there is not team in place for this and everything is mainly handled by 1-2 people), but we will do everything we can to handle serious problems (such as being locked out of your account).
Thank you for your understanding and we hope everyone is enjoying the good warm weather!
